No less than the Regional Director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-10) Wilkins Villanueva aired his admiration to the local officials of the municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND) for giving all-out support on the campaign against illegal drugs by establishing its own rehabilitation facility – the Balay Silangan.
“The issue of establishing Balay Silangan isn’t about money or resources but the determination of local officials to help their constituents who are hooked with drugs, helping them to pull out from the menace of drugs indeed a remarkable intervention of the LGU.” RD Villanueva said.
According to him there are lots of LGU’s in the region who have huge budget but they are not prioritizing the project.
However, Mayor Ulwan Dimaporo explained the importance of Balay Silangan in consonance with the LGU’s target to help all barangays to be declared as drug free and a gesture of support in the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte to curb the influence of illegal drugs.
Mayor Dimaporo emphasized the effort of the DILG through MLGOO Alele Palao, PNP, PDEA, municipal and barangay officials with other stakeholders for helping the completion of needed documents for the Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP).
